Viaduct Seismic Upgrade
Seismic upgrade design for a multi-span viaduct, built on a 3D laser-scanner survey and a digital model of the existing structure.
The project
The viaduct carries the road on a long sequence of slender piers across a wooded slope. Before any assessment, the structure was surveyed with a 3D laser scanner from above and below the deck — recording every pier, the deck soffit and the surrounding ground as a dense point cloud.
From the point cloud we built a three-dimensional model of the existing viaduct. It supports the structural assessment and the seismic upgrade design, and lets the client review the structure and the proposed interventions as a whole rather than drawing by drawing.
